A space maintainer is a device designed to preserve a space between two teeth. Children may require a space maintainer if they’ve lost a tooth or had a tooth extracted in order to leave room for adult teeth to grow in. Baby teeth play an important role in the formation of the jaw, and for the way in which adult teeth will grow. If a space is not properly maintained between baby teeth, adult teeth may grow in crooked and require orthodontic treatment.
Our office can assist your child should they be in need of a space maintainer, and we’re happy to discuss any questions or concerns you might have.
